Our Mission

The mission of Strasburg Restoration & Preservation, Inc. (SR&P) is the restoration of the exteriors of historical buildings throughout the town and the surrounding area but concentrating restoration efforts within the National Historic District of the Borough of Strasburg, Pennsylvania. To ensure that the restored exteriors remain in “as restored” condition, deed easements will be established for each property with the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County, a 501(c)(3) organization, being the Grantee of the easements.

This effort will be funded through private and government grants and donations with no financial benefit accruing to the company or it's members. Funds earned, in excess of direct expenses, will be used for future restoration projects with in Strasburg Borough. Should the organization, at some time in the future, be dissolved, any assets which would be held by the company will be transferred to the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County or to the Strasburg Heritage Society, also a 501(c)(3) organization. All services rendered by the members of Strasburg Restoration & Preservation, Inc. in pursuit of the mission of the organization are strictly voluntary.

Through it's fundraising efforts, SR&P has established a low interest loan program for property owners who need financial assistance in restoring the exterior of their historic property. It is the intention of SR&P to eventually establish a grant program for those owners who are financially unable to restore their properties. All restoration work must comply with the Secretary of the Interior's guidelines.

Additionally, Strasburg Restoration & Preservation, Inc. will offer, in conjunction with the Strasburg Heritage Society, programs to educate the public in the historical restoration process including architectural and chain-of-ownership research, financial impacts including grant application, and the recognition of historical architectural styles. Strasburg Restoration & Preservation, Inc. also will offer consultative services to any historical property owner whether a Strasburg resident or not.
